How to use Ipod Touch with Monteray?

I have an IPOD touch Gen 4, running 9.3.5 and want to connect it to my IMAC which is running Monteray (12.7.6).

How do I do this? The IPOD won't update its IOS.

An iPod using iOS 9.3.5 suggests that it is a 5th generation iPod Touch, which is the most recent version of iOS for the 5th gen Touch. The iOS version cannot be updated. But don't concern yourself with this, the iPod can still be used with a MAC, by using Finder*.

To work with that iPod on a Mac using OS Monterey, you use Finder (which should already be installed on your Mac). You may need to turn on the make visible option in Finder before you see the iPod.

I'm not a Mac user, but I believe that to do this you open the Finder menu, then go to the General option. In the sidebar make sure that CDs, DVDs, and iOS devices is selected (ticked, or checked).

* iTunes is not used on a Mac using OS Monterey. Note that this change was from Mac OS Catalina (10:15) onwards.
