iMAC (mid 2017) with Ventura won’t connect to the internet via Ethernet.

I upgraded my parents iMAC a1418 (21.5” 4K) mid-2017 to a 1TB SSD and 32 GB RAM.  Installation went smoothly. I installed the latest version of macOS Ventura. However, my only issues is the computer is not connection to the internet via Ethernet. iMAC works with WiFi without issue.

Under network settings the ethernet shows the red circle and "not connected".

What I’ve tried:

  • Cleaned Ethernet jack with IPA.
  • Ethernet cable works on a windows PC and my Mac laptop. So my cable and router work.
  • Tried connecting it to my job’s Ethernet cable with no success.
  • There’s no firewall.

Any suggestions?

Yes, I’m sure. The Ethernet cable is connected to my windows PC providing internet. I unplug the Ethernet from the windows PC and plug it into the Ethernet jack on the iMAC. No internet connection.

Power cycle your router and Ethernet connected Mac.

Maybe using a liquid to clean the Ethernet port caused damage.
