Why does WhatsApp ask for a payment method during download?
Why everyone u have to download whatapp they are telling me about payment plan

Apple's App Store requires a verified payment method to be able to use, which includes downloading free apps.
There is no charge for downloading WhatsApp, and no payment plan to my knowledge whatsoever unless you are selecting an App that is not the official WhatsApp app and that may have a cost.
Either way, you need to have a verified payment method on your Apple account to download apps from the Apple App Store. This does not mean you will be charged for free apps though.
