dongle for Cd player on MacBook Air

I would like to play CD's on my MacBook Air. I don't intend to add software or storage to the computer, I'd just like to play older cds

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.7

The Music app will access and play CDs in a compatible optical disc player.

Connect the drive directly to the Mac using a USB-A to USB-C plug adapter or cable if needed.

The dongle that you need for an older USB-A connector for newer Macs with USB-C is either Apple's cable adapter, or a cheaper USB to USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 dongle. Apple's DVDPlayer should handle your CDs provided they have no copy guard or other protections.
