How can I take photos on a MacBook Pro without a built-in camera?
My MacBook Pro does not have a camera. Is there a way to take photos or a camera app that can be downloaded?

MacBook Pro 16-in whatever year your is shipped from Apple with a built-in camera. Is yours not working?
Logitech makes a wide selection of Mac-friendly USB "webcam" for connection to a Mac.
You can hold stuff up in front of the MacBook Pro built-in camera, but that is not very convenient.
What I do is take a picture on my phone, then email or text it to myself, and pick it up on the MacBook.
I believe there are far more elegant ways to 'share' the iPhone camera with your Mac in recent versions of MacOS. But my "brute force" method is simple and works every time with no setup, and no minimum system requirements.
The Photo Booth app does snapshots. Of course, as you are experiencing, the laptop is too unwieldy to be a practical replacement for an iPhone or other camera device.
@Grant Bennet-Alder's method of getting pics to the Mac from a phone via text or email works. 👍🏽
I use AirDrop to transfer a few pics at a time between devices.
You do you.
I can use my iPhone or iPad cameras if necessary but sometime I need a snapshot while using my MacBook which means I have to juggle devices. So I wanted to know if perhaps I had overlooked a feature of the MacBook.
Launch the Photo Booth app.
If the camera is working it should turn on and show up there.
If not, then you have some troubleshooting to dol.
I am away but will check Photo Booth when I return. I know the FaceTime camera works but I need to take snapshots.
