Not recommended... but (somewhat) possible depending on what kind of templates you're talking about.
What kind of templates are you considering "importing" into your Motion project(s)?
Hmm... That's encouraging. Here is what I try to do:
The template I have in mind would be some kind of a generator creating a 3D custom design taking a 2D silhouette input picture. The design would simulates a 2-sided 3D silhouette separated by a fixed small distance, reminding somehow a cardboard sheet whose both sides have the same glued picture. Each side has of course different colour or other filters.
For example, creating a crowd of 15-20 different 3D cardboard silhouettes of standing persons scattered on the same floor.
For now I successfully managed to emulate the thickness of a single 3D silhouette by using a replicator on each face of the 2D silhouette with the following controls: Shape>Line, Z start point 2 px, Points 5. That creates some kind of a 10 px thick "sandwich" of 5 silhouettes. Same thing with the other face, total thickness of the 3D cardboard silhouette: 20 px.
The trouble is… I have to repeat all this for each and every silhouette. The project pane starts to be clogged and difficult to handle, hence my question.
Tx,
