MacOS Recovery saying authentication failed

My password stopped working yesterday to login to my Mac so when I tried to login with my apple account it says authentication failed after I correctly entered my password and 6 digit verification code. How can I fix this issue? Do I need to take it in person?

fyi I already changed my Apple ID password and am able to login to it on other devices so I am 100% using and typing the correct info
