How can I reset an iPad (4th Gen) when the previous owner is deceased?

I received a 4th generation ipad from an estate wherein the owner/user is deceased. I have his name, date of birth and date of death and I believe I have his accurate email. However, I do not have his passcode. The find my ipad feature is turned on. How do I reset factory settings so that I can create a new passcode?

Hello Ranjodos,

Do you have proof of purchase documentation? I think your best bet is to start an Activation Lock support request. Unless the deceased user added a legacy contact previously, the only way to remove the Activation Lock is as described in this article:

Even if you factory reset the device, you will still need to enter the deceased user's Apple Account information to use this iPad.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Have a nice day!
