apple pencil drains my ipad battery

i have noticed recently my ipad battery slowly drains when not in use. tried checking why but there seem to be no activity as attached. as you can see see, the battery percentage slowly dropping.

below are things i have tried:

low power mode

no keyboard attached

background app refreshed turned off

only apple pencil is attached to this ipad and i suspected this to be the issue. apple pencil battery drains so fast even when not in used and this confuses me. there is no issue with the pencil before. but this suddenly happens.
