How much should I sell my iPad 9th gen with a broken home button?

It’s a couple years old now, and the home button does not work

A search on eBay UK for "ipad 9th generation broken home button" returns one which sold for £56 on 25th Jan. Provided the OP can wipe it then it's worth selling.

If you can get it, go for it.

All you have to do is list it, wait for (another) buyer willing to pay, sell it, meet up and deliver it or ship it, accept payment, and then contend with any problems with the shipping or the transaction. All of which has a cost.

It's my observation that anything wrong with an iPad, regardles of age, reduces is resale value to nearly zero. Because iPads are not made to be user-serviceable, people can't use it as a parts donor like we used to with older computers. It becomes a pricy theater prop at best.

Other than recycling as muguy suggests, you could opt to have Apple repair it. It is new enough to get OS upgrades for a few more years. In some countries you can use Apple's ship-in/mail-in option. If Apple looks at it and says the repair cost is too high for your budget, you can say "No, Thanks you," and have them recycle it.

You wouldn't be asking this if you thought it was worth repairing.

An iPad with a broken control has little value past its constituent parts.

Why so negative? I sold a ton of stuff last year with not a single problem, including some iPods, an iPhone 6 and two iPhone SEs. eBay manages all the payment side, prints the postage labels and the postie picks the packages up the next morning. After postage and packing material costs I covered more than half the cost of Macbook Pro I'm typing this on.
