Not all servers do - two of mine don't and to set up my accounts I need to know the incoming and outgoing server names (they are different), the protocols and the port settings. Less tech-savvy users might struggle with this, particularly if their mail was set up for them by someone else.

Good point! Fortunately, just about all email providers have instructions on their website to set up an iPhone.
