How to fix 'narrow margins' warning in Microsoft Word on iMac?

The "fix" that worked for me with "narrow margins" (.5 top, bottom, right, left):

• page size US letter 8.5 x 11
• margins as above
• file menu > print > print menu > paper handling > toggle on "fit to paper size"
• ignore warning > click "yes"

worked on both of my brother printers

output as expected
