Why do unknown people’s birthdays appear on my calendar?

it’s happened twice, so far. I suddenly find on my iPhone calendar a birthday of somebody who I don’t know and isn’t in my contacts. The day before, in the calendar on that day there was no birthday. How is it possible? How can I prevent this?
