4k monitor 60hz vs 100hz with macbook pro m1 problem

Hi, i own a macbook pro m1 and a lg 4k monitor. I use a third part usb-c adaptor to connect the mac and monitor. I used to connect it with 100hz frame rate. After formatting to clean up all my system i can use the monitor only at 60hz.

Why? How can i reconnect it in 100hz?

EasyRes is a software that adds display management more extensive than Apple's own settings that you can find in the App Store. If that doesn't work, look into DisplayConfigX or SwitchResX. If none of the above get you back the frequency you desire, the cable in question may have burnt out some of its signal capacity.

the data rates for 4K and similar displays are extremely high, and unrelenting. If anything is not high enough spec, the display will not be able to attain top performance.

Readers would be willing to do some analysis of your situation, but much more information is needed:

display make&model

make&model of docking station or whatever USB-C adapter you are using

Lengths of the cables involved, because at high data rates and modern MacOS, there are some serious length limits.
