What is hidden about a hidden network if others can see my data?

I'm trying to use my iPhone as a router for my MacBook Air and I'm being warned it is a Hidden Network. What ? Who writes this stuff? It's hidden but not hidden. Doesn't make sense.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.3

It think this will explain it. The network isn't hidden. The NAME of the network is --> Join a hidden Wi-Fi network on Mac - Apple Support

So, if the name of the network is hidden and if you still want to join it, you will be joining a hidden network as long as you know the password of the hidden network.

I would imagine you are using Private Wifi addresses --> Use private Wi-Fi addresses on Apple devices - Apple Support
