Battery drain and shock issues with iPhone 16 Pro

Hey everyone. I purchased a 16 pro 2 weeks ago. 1 week in and I couldn’t with the poor battery, even with all the tips from all over the internet to save battery. Went to Apple, returned and got another 16 pro. Same issue, very unhappy. Today however, I grabbed the phone in the morning after charging (to 90%) and got a little shock when touching the phone. Then, after that, the phone quickly went from 90 to 89 (less than 2 minutes) and kept lowering to. 83 in about 30 minutes of almost no use, then I got into a meeting which caused me to lose 13%.

I am very unhappy with the battery and wanted to know what everyone else would do. Give up on it completely? Get the pro max? Did the shock cause any problems (even more) to the battery? Thanks.

Have the second iPhone for 5 days now. I don’t turn it off at night, just take the case off and plug it in. I turned WiFi off at night as well as Bluetooth and cellular. Yes in cold climate, currently in Connecticut and my room gets very cold at night.

I’m also not sure about the source of my brick charger, been using it since the last phone for almost 2 years and thinking about replacing with an Apple one, if that could be an issue.

During the first 3 to 5 days your iPhone makes extensive use of WiFi at night to do syncing, updating and backing up to iPhone. No where does Apple suggest as a best practice to turn off WiFi and Bluetooth at night.

Having grown up in the Cleveland area and living in Montana for 5 years, I’d suggest the shock might have been static electricity.

My suggestions are plug your iPhone in at night and leave it connected to the internet so the necessary background activity can occur.

Why not sync during the day? This could severely affect your daytime use and lead you to believe that your new iPhone wasn’t as fast, or faster, than your previous iPhone.

Let’s revisit this in a few days and see if things don’t stabilize.
