I understand this is a new feature in sonoma (14.3.1) is my version. Very hard to unassociate this mail envelope to get back to just excel file , Why oh why did Apple do this, is there a way to disable it so that it doesnt happen for every file?
Should it stop me saving file as excel file only?

I’m not sure I understand. The envelope badge just indicates the file can be linked back to the email from which it came. It has no effect on the file type. Can you explain in more detail what you see happening that makes you think it is preventing you from saving the attachment?
