Disk Utility errors after faulty macOS update

Bonjour,

Mac Studio M1 Max

After updating Sonoma 14.7.3 to 14.7.4, I found the computer like frozen at the very beginning pf booting (I was away for an hour or so). Cautious about interrupting a System Update, I decided to wait 1 hour but not change. So I decided to shut it off and restart. It booted, seemed OK; but when launching Disk Utility, it returned many errors :

so tedious to format and reinstall, especially when you have protected software

TIA, help appreciated

Boot into Recovery Mode and run First Aid again to see if those errors can be fixed. You may need to run it more than once. If after several attempts the errors remain, then they cannot be repaired so you would need to perform a clean install which involves first erasing the disk followed by reinstalling macOS & restoring from a backup. Also, run First Aid on the hidden Container. Within Disk Utility you may need to click "View" and select "Show All Devices" before the hidden Container appears on the left pane of Disk Utility. Running First Aid on the Container will also have Disk Utility automatically scan all of the APFS volumes within that Container.

Make sure to manually review the First Aid report since the First Aid summary has been known to lie.
