I take a screenshot but I am no longer able to import it into Photos

For years, I have used the CMD-SHIFT-4 to take a screen shot, then right click on the thumbnail and select "Open in Photos" and it would open Photos and import said screenshot into Photos.

Now, I take the screenshot in the same manner, again right click to "Open in Photos", but the screenshot is not added to Photos. Rather the screenshot is saved to the desktop. I then have to manually drag the file into Photos for it to be added.

Not sure when this function went away, or if there is a new procedure for doing this.

I am on Sequoia 15.3.1 on a Mac Pro.

I can right click on the screenshot while in the Screenshot app (i.e. before it's saved to the Desktop) and use the Share - Add to Photos option and it works as advertised.

I generally us ⌘⌃⇧4 to get copy a screenshot to the clipboard, but I just tried the ⌘⇧4 "little clip in the corner" version, and you're right-- "Open in Photos" instead saves to Desktop, just like ⌘⇧3 does. I noticed that Open in Preview works, though. I can't think of another way to go directly to Photos.

I think the only thing to do is to let Apple know here:

Thanks for checking it. Good to know it is repeatable.

Yes, I can open the screenshot and use the Share menu to send it to Photos, but that is basically the same as dragging the icon to Photos. I hope it is just something that was missed in testing, as having that direct save from the right click menu I found to be VERY useful and saved a few gyrations. If they don't plan to support it any longer, then they should remove it from the options on that menu.

Thanks again!!
