Safari text scaling issues

Already made several posts about this that are already dead so I guess I have to just keep recreating the same post. Why can't Safari keep text at the same size? I've never had this many issues with such a basic function of a browser. Text size repeatedly just "shrinks" (doesn't seem to matter how I set the scaling options in Safari). The only "fix" is to exit fullscreen (which I have to do about 20 times a day to get the text back to a legible size). I don't have any extensions enabled and I've already tried "remove all" website data. I guess my only recourse is to reinstall the OS on my 3 month old computer and (hope) that this issue doesn't come back immediately after a major hassle all because Apple can't make a browser with legible font

Not much help, I know, but the reason you're not getting help might be because it's not a common problem. I've never seen it. For example, this site I have set at one click of zoom-in and it stays that size and I haven't touched it for as long as I can remember. My View/Text Encoding setting is "Default"

I haven't got many ideas - Safari's not the most customizable of browsers. Have you tried:

  • running in safe mode to make sure there really isn't an extension somewhere messing with it;
  • make sure you haven't got any Accessibility settings set in System Settings that might affect the font scaling;
  • resetting the Feature Flags in Safari Settings;
  • not setting a minimum font size in Safari Settings/Advanced (mine's unticked).
