I have carefully entered correct date on info on my photos that I scanned over years. Now these photos seem to be sorted by date I scanned, possibly, instead. Lots of work wasted.

Here's an 1852 Daguerrotype I scanned in 2021:
with the Info Window in Mac Photos. I've changed the "captured date" to 1/1/1852, since I don't know any better. The point, though, is that this sorts properly on my Mac, my iPad, and my iPhone.
I'm not sure I get "seem to be sorted by date I scanned, possibly," Are they?
Is this in an album? Or in the Photos Library? If it's in Library,
are you sorting by date captured?
Same if in an Album-- how are you sorting the pcitures?
Where and how did you add the dates and where are you looking the dates and sort order now?
Added dates on info , circle with i inside, has option to adjust dates.
Photos on iPad not sorting by date in info as in past?
