How do I change the photo widget on an iPad mini 4?

I was told to select “Album” before adding the widget, but once I press “Photos Widget” it instantly adds it, without asking me if I would like featured, or albums.

If somebody could reply with an answer, that would be greatly appreciated!,

I really don't do widgets on my Mac, but I looked at this:

Add and customize widgets on Mac - Apple Support

I right-clicked on my desktop to open the Widget editor (I guess,) and chose Photos. I went through the editor's choices of features to find Album widgets, and I chose the shape I liked. It set itself on my desktop. I right-clicked on it, and it had Edit "Album," so I clicked on that. Then it gave me a list of albums from my Photos app, and I picked an appropriate one. It seemed to work OK.
