Screen delay when audio is unmuted on Quicktime Player

I've been using a capture card on my mac and it has been perfectly fine without any delay. Lately, as soon as as I have my airpods as the audio output and unmute, the screen capture gets significantly delayed. Can someone give me an advice on how to fix this? Appreciate it.
