How to set different toggle alarm based on day of the week?

I work shift work and have created toggle alarms for my different shifts (e.g., shift A, shift B) to remind me when to wake up and when to board the bus. How can I set the toggle alarm to turn on for different days of the week? I work shift A on Monday and Tuesday and shift B from Wednesday to Friday. The shifts change every week.

Hello Zoey-i,

I assume that you created 4 alarms named (for instance) "Monday/Tuesday - Shift A", "Monday/Tuesday - Shift B", "Wednesday/Thursday/Friday - Shift A" and "Wednesday/Thursday/Friday - Shift B".

If you have such a setup, you could use the Shortcuts application to create a personal automation that would run every weekend. The personal automation would toggle the 4 alarms.

For instance, this week, alarms "Monday/Tuesday - Shift A" and "Wednesday/Thursday/Friday - Shift B" were turned on (in the Clock app) and alarms "Monday/Tuesday - Shift B" and "Wednesday/Thursday/Friday - Shift A" were turned off. The personal automation would toggle them every week.

Here is an example (with only 2 alarms) of what it would look like:

I can’t get the Repeat Days property to work, even if I just try to display it. I suspect it’s a bug in the Shortcuts app.

You shouldn’t need to test for the day in the personal automation. In the Clock app, you can set an alarm to repeat only on certain days. For instance, the alarm named "Monday/Tuesday - Shift A" would repeat only Mondays and Tuesdays.

In your screenshot above, tap the word “Turn” and choose instead “Toggle”. Thus every time the automation runs, the alarm would toggle on (from off) or off (from on).
