Mail icon in dock not showing unread messages any more.

After later update, Mail app icon in Dock in my Mac does not show the number of unread messages... Does anyone know how to get it working again? Thank you.

check this per AI overview:

  • Go to System Settings: Open the Apple menu and select "System Settings".
  • Access Notifications: In the sidebar, click on "Notifications".
  • Find Mail: Scroll down to find the Mail app in the list.
  • Enable Badge App Icon: Ensure the toggle next to "Badge app icon" is turned on.

Found It! Was having this issue as well. In Access Notifications, go to Customize Notifications, ensure Unread Messages in Primary in selected, then check each mail account that badges are on. My Gmail was turned off, while others were still on. This also fixed my mail sync issue with Gmail where if I deleted from my phone, it wouldn't sync back to the web app.
