MacBook Pro 16-inch 2019 refuses updates past macOS 12.7.3

I've tried installing the 12.7.6 Monterey update from the Software Update panel and as a standalone download. I've tried installing Sonoma and Sequoia from Software Update and as standalone downloads. Last night, I booted into the recovery mode using the option+command+R variation designed to install the latest compatible MacOS. In each case, the installer downloaded correctly, but the installs all failed with no context for what caused the failures. Disk Utility First Aid reports no issues. I'll include the EtreCheck details below. The MBP (2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel i9 32GB) has started running hot and crashing on Monterey. MS Teams recently balked at working with Monterey because it's out of date. I always appreciate the insights and suggestions from the Apple Community members. Any thoughts?

<Apple security disabled - Apple security software is disabled.> at the very least I recommend this be on.

<avast> Anti-virus look for a built in in app uninstaller— if in doubt search developers website.

If you are using a VPN disable it. <NordLynx - /Applications/NordVPN IKE.app>

If you turned on the Firewall turn it off

Remove any Anti-virus software— this competes directly with the built in Apple AV and known to cause issues.

lsd in OS X is the LaunchServiceDaemon. launchd is a launch daemon manager! support for launching apps and matching document types to apps.

From my understanding this has to do with the T2 security chip which has its own ARM based OS.

Most likely your Logic Board is bad which is unfortunately very common with the MacBook Pro 16" (2019) model specifically.

I personally do not recommend spending any money on repairs for this laptop for multiple reasons, but especially for the high failure rate of this model's Logic Board. There have been multiple reports from users on this forum that even replacement Logic Boards have had issues sometimes immediately after getting them home from the repair. The money spent on repairs is better put towards a new laptop.

Hi again. I restarted in Safe Mode and tried both the MacOS 12.7.6 update and the Sequoia update with no success. Both the 12.7.6 and Sequoia installers were already downloaded. Software Update showed the Sequoia process humming along with "Preparing macOS Sequoia 15.3.1... About 30 minutes remaining," then it failed with the "Failed to prepare the software update. Please try again." message. I've downloaded the Sequoia installer directly rather than through the Software Update platform, but I'm still in troubleshooting mode, apparently. I've uploaded a revised EtreCheck Pro report.

Thank you! I ran the Avast Cleanup uninstaller; I think that was the only Avast software installed. I'm not aware of any dedicated anti-virus app installation. The Nord VPN has not been running. I did not have the Firewall turned on. As Grant suggested below—thank you, too!—I also ran the Malwarebytes uninstaller.

I don't see anything in the Monterey System Preferences Security & Privacy settings to turn on "Apple security."

I'm not sure what the "ProxiedDevice-Bridge" is that's causing the high number of crash reports.

I had tried installing from Safe Mode, but that was before removing the Avast and Malwarebytes variables. I'll re-start, have another go, and follow up. Thanks again for your help.
