Apple Silicon " MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.7 and Owner Password ?

The operative word is Apple Silicon computer ?

Otherwise follow the previous advise

Apple Silicon computers have a Different Meaning of Ownership where in there is Difference between Admin Accounts and Owner Accounts

I'm assuming that you MacBook Air (MBA) is either a Silicon or T2 Intel Mac.

How you would change the password would depend on, whether or not, you know the current password for the Owner Administrator (OA) account on this Mac. Also, does this Mac have another non-OA administrator account?

If you know the password for this OA account, then it is simply to go to System Settings as dialabrain has mentioned.

If you don't know the password, then you have three options:

  1. Use another non-OA administrator account to change the password.
  2. If the OA account is linked to your Apple Account/Apple ID, you could reset it from the login screen.
  3. If you are the Owner, reset it from Recovery Mode.
