Are you just trying to change your login password or did you forget it?
For the former, follow dialabrain's advice; for the latter, review this article:

Apple Silicon " MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.7 and Owner Password ?
The operative word is Apple Silicon computer ?
Otherwise follow the previous advise
Apple Silicon computers have a Different Meaning of Ownership where in there is Difference between Admin Accounts and Owner Accounts

I'm assuming that you MacBook Air (MBA) is either a Silicon or T2 Intel Mac.
How you would change the password would depend on, whether or not, you know the current password for the Owner Administrator (OA) account on this Mac. Also, does this Mac have another non-OA administrator account?
If you know the password for this OA account, then it is simply to go to System Settings as dialabrain has mentioned.
If you don't know the password, then you have three options:
Open System Settings > Users & Groups. Click the i in a circle, then the Change… button. Follow the instructions.
