It is 2025, do we have better news to process Nikon NRAW files directly in FCP or are we still dragging our feet on this?
Yes, yes, DaVinci can do it but it breaks the workflow. No one likes this and why would Apple want their customers to add another atrociously pedantic step using a competitor's software into the workflow? What happened to the slick UI and usability which Apple is famous for ?

Yeah - the .nev file doesn't work on my system, but it should have looked no different than the files I was able to open.
From what I can tell from this page:

There is no difference between the .NEV file and a ProRes RAW HQ 12-bit export of the video. I still wouldn't know if I'd be able to open the ProRes RAW version but the Release Notes for 10.4.1 shows that ProRes RAW support was added that early.
Your best bet is for you and other NRAW users to file feedback directly with Apple:

The more feedback they get - the more likely a solution.

Some day, I'll carve out some time to learn it.
May be he was referring to a third-party transcoder plugin in FCP, which several people have discussed in the web. I have not tried this method so I have no idea whether it will work or not.
How do you plan to recode NRAW into a format which FCP can import?
It sounded like you have done it successfully in your original post. Can you tell us how you did it?
