How can I restore lost notes on my Mac Studio?

I'm using a Mac Studio, and I had it set to store my Notes on iCloud. They were there two days ago, but when I opened the Notes app today, they had all disappeared. The only notes in the Recently Deleted folder are notes that I intentionally deleted; the ones I wanted to keep are nowhere to be found. If I look at the Notes app on my Mac, it says 0 notes; if I look on iCloud, it invites me to create my first note.

I'd really like to get them back. Is there a way to restore them?
