Slideshow recording session ends with no way to exit

I’m recording a slideshow with Keynote 14.3 on an M1 MacBook Air. The recording uses Live Video with 2 cameras. The majority of times when I end a recording the slide select bar at the bottom of the screen is empty and the screen exit X at the top right is inactive. The only way out is to force quit, losing any recording work. Extremely frustrating. Found someone in an Apple Community note from 7 years ago with the same issue, and she never got a satisfactory answer. Still happening countless Keynote versions later. Originally had file on OneDrive, moved it to iCloud, then to the MacBook. Makes no difference. I’m stuck at this point. My workflow gets messy if I have to give up. Any suggestions?
