If by "acquire it", you mean "get it back", chances are that you can't. Most stolen iPhones are never recovered.

If you were using Find My, you can mark the phone as Lost – using Activation Lock to prevent the thieves from simply "making your phone their own."

In addition, Apple does not get involved with lost and stolen phones. Keep this in mind if you get messages from "Apple"; these will be phishing messages, from the criminals, who are trying to remove the Activation Lock on the phone and/or rummage through the data in your Apple Account.

Locating a Stollen Device:

Have a hunch as to who it is? Ask a friend if they know where this person is. It may one no more than a device handed into local authorities to a Lost & Found location.
