How can I turn off Apple Intelligence suggestions in Messages?
When I’m chatting to someone over messages, whether it’s a friend or family, I get these generic suggestions above my keyboard that animate with a pastel glow. How can I turn these off?
It used to be that the keyboard would suggest simple and useful “auto complete” type things like “Ok, sure.” Or “Not right now.” which were sometimes marginally useful (to be honest, I rarely used them)
But now I get these really creepy suggestions like “Oh, I’m sorry to hear that.” Or “That sounds like a great idea!” which are super unauthentic. And it creeps me out, especially if I’m messaging my spouse, as they’ll obviously know that not how I talk.
It’s really distracting too, because unlike the previous suggestions that were just there as a shortcut, these ones animate like the designers desperately want me to use them!
As if my phone is like ”Go on!! EMPATHIZE MORE!!”
I just want to turn off Apple Intelligence as it’s distracting and makes my iPhone feel creepy to use. Like there’s a bad robot inside trying to influence how I interact with friends and loved ones. Why can’t I just be me? Why does the phone need to make me feel bad about how I’m communicating?
I splashed out on an iPhone 16 Pro Max thinking I’d go all in on Apple Intelligence, and now I feel like that was a bad idea. I should have just stuck with a simple phone and avoided all the hype.
Any help greatly appreciated!
