MacBook Asking for Old Apple ID to Turn Off Find My to Reset My MacBook
Hey everyone,
I’m facing a weird issue with my MacBook. A few months ago, I changed my Apple ID email from abc@gmail.com to xyz@gmail.com using Apple’s official method. Everything has been working fine—my Apple ID, iCloud, and purchases all show the new email.
Problem:
Today, I wanted to reset my MacBook, and it asked me to sign out of Find My Mac before proceeding. But instead of asking for my new email, it’s asking me to enter the password for abc@gmail.com (the old email that no longer exists)!
I’ve tried:
✅ Entering my current Apple ID credentials (xyz@gmail.com) – Didn’t work
✅ Signing into iCloud.com with my old (abc@gmail.com) email – Apple says this account doesn’t exist
✅ Resetting the password for abc@gmail.com – Apple says it’s invalid
✅ Removing my Mac from my iCloud account
Since Apple doesn’t even recognize abc@gmail.com anymore, I have no way to turn off Find My Mac, and now I can’t reset my MacBook.
Has anyone else faced this issue? Is this a bug? How do I fix this?
Would appreciate any help! Thanks in advance.
