AirPods Max Bluetooth issues

Airpods Max are constantly dropping the connection during zoom calls, listening to music, pretty much any use. Whether on WiFi or cellular data this occurs. I have to reset them weekly, sometimes daily. Sometimes they won’t even go into pairing mode at all. The issues are sporadic but often. They are still under Applecare but when I went for a Genius Bar app I was told they won’t fix it unless they can reproduce the issues right then and there at the store. Now this feels like my word against another persons… I’m wonder what the point is of apple care if they won’t fix my $600 investments?

If anyone has any advice please send it my way.. it feels like I am still entitled for them to be repaired given I’ve paid for the insurance of it.

Intermittent AirPods Disconnections:

So, what are you connecting these to? It may come down to the device these are paired with. So, are you using a Mac here? An iPhone? Or something else? If there are multiple audio devices, then you might need to forget the devices in settings. On a Mac, you might be able use a profile to configure the use of these within you user settings. Just remove the profile when you are not in the need to perform a call or do a zoom meeting, or however else.

Troubleshooting Mac Bluetooth:

Three Things to Try:

A. Verify the Connection:

See if the speaker is even seen:

  1. Hold Down: the Option key
  2. Click: the Apple menu
  3. Select:: About this Mac...
  4. Click: System Report... button
  5. Select: Bluetooth (on the left of screen)
  6. Look For: this Speaker

B. Try Reseting the Core Audio:

Type the following command in Terminal:

sudo killall coreaudiod

C. Perform a SMC and NVRAM Reset:

Sometimes changes are made to the system(i.e. updates) and then settings (i.e. for Power) become manipulated, technically.  So, reset both the SMC and NVRAM on your Mac.

D. "Reset the Bluetooth Module":

See my User Tip: Use "Reset the Bluetooth module" to Fix Constant Bluetooth Disconnections - User Tip. Looking at my first comment on it, recommended to Apple that they bring this option back. They discontinued it on even macOS versions.
