Allow Automatic Sample Rate Switching in macOS for Bit-Perfect Audio Playback

📢 Dear Apple,

macOS does not automatically adjust sample rates to match the source material, forcing users to manually change the settings in Audio MIDI Setup. This reduces audio fidelity and prevents seamless bit-perfect playback, even for lossless files.

Many audiophiles, musicians, and video editors need accurate, untouched audio. However, macOS requires users to manually switch sample rates every time they play 44.1kHz, 48kHz, or higher-resolution files, making it inconvenient for those who work with diverse audio formats.

🚨 The Problems:

No automatic sample rate switching – Users must change settings manually in Audio MIDI Setup.

macOS resamples all audio to the current system sample rate, potentially degrading audio quality.

Exclusive Mode (like WASAPI on Windows) isn’t easily available for general media playback.

🔥 The Solution:

Implement automatic sample rate switching – Let macOS match the source file’s sample rate dynamically.

Allow bit-perfect playback in Shared Mode – Prevent unnecessary resampling.

Enhance CoreAudio’s flexibility – Provide better access to Exclusive Mode playback for applications.

Apple, you’ve always been a leader in professional audio. macOS should not lag behind Windows and Linux when it comes to bit-perfect, automatic sample rate handling. Please give users the option for true, lossless playback without manual adjustments!

🎧 Thank you!
