iPhone 16 Pro Max screen flickering purple, unresponsive, and freezing

For the last few months my 16 pro max screen has been flickering purple in random parts of the screen especially when unlocking the device, scrolling is when it happens the most and then the screen becomes unresponsive and the phone will freeze for a hot second. Hardware, software issue? Just an example which happened while I was writing this post and had to force close the browser. It makes the phone almost completely unusable.
