Windows: Import iTunes play lists into Apple Music

I've recommissioned a Windows desktop had been wiped in order to migrate its music and playlists to my laptop. The desktop has a substantial amount of music and about a dozen playlists. So far I've been able to add the music to Apple Music. I am seriously stumped and dismayed to read that Windows Apple Music is unable import any of the individual playlist xml files.

Deleting the Apple apps trio and reinstalling iTunes does not help. No matter where I conjure up a iTunes Library.itl file I am told it cannot be read because it was created by a newer version. This when the .itl file is essentially at the current date and time.

Surely there should exist a procedure that would allow iTunes playlists to be usable in Apple Music. Trying to use Apple Music to create a playlist of over 100 songs is a non-starter.

Please advise.

Stick with iTunes. See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash - Apple Community to deal with the error message. Use the shift-start-iTunes to explicitly choose the .itl file that you want it to open. Use this link if needed to (re)install the current build if needed:
