How can I improve Synology NAS photos and videos to iCloud upload speeds?

As I migrate all my photos / videos from my Synology NAS using my Macbook Pro using the Photos app as the upload point, it is just taking too long to upload via Macbook Pro's Photo App.

  • Used the 'import function' in the Photos app
  • 2Gbps connection with 1Gbps upload
  • i7 Macbook Pro
  • 2TB iCloud capacity
  • 170gb of content = 6000 videos + 53000 photos
  • I am getting an average of 500 to 600 items a day uploaded to iCloud. At this rate, I'll need 3 months

What do I do to get a better iCloud upload speeds?

Hello prasmoorthy

A few months ago, I moved all my files to iCloud Drive, including about 1000 photos with approximately 1 GB. My internet has 500 Mbs download and 50 Mbs upload. The photos uploaded took about 24 hours. The other files were fast. I think Apple limits the upload of photos for some reason. I recommend looking for another app to sync photos. I hope this helps.
