Saved music has disappeared from the music app on my iphone

Yesterday I did a phone sync and my computer did a software update before I did it. Today all the playlist on my iPhone have disappeared along with all music except the stuff I’ve purchased through iTunes. Is the latest update forcing you to subscribe to Apple Music to hear you own purchased music? Ie music I had bought on CD then converted to MP3 files?
