How do I sync my shortcuts with Apple Watch?

I was having an issue with getting my shortcuts to sync with my Apple Watch from my phone. I found the following comment on reddit which resolved everything for me:

”My solution: set action button to none. Turn off phone and watch. Turn on phone and unlock, turn on watch and unlock, click action button and select shortcut. Click and exit action button two or three times.”
