How to safely use newly purchased Apple Gift Card?

Information on gift cards that have just been purchased.

If you are using a gift card that you purchased from a store. There is something everyone needs to know.

when you are going to redeem the gift card into an account,

DO NOT VIEW THE BALANCE FIRST!

This is the worst thing you can do is viewing the balance of the card right after you purchase it.

mince you scan it to view the balance of your card, an out of country hacker is waiting. They use the card scanner to read your card. While you look at the balance, someone is taking your money.

then you go to redeem your card and it says already redeemed.

And the money is gone forever.

Apple support will not give out any information on where the money is or where it went. Nothing at all they can say.

However now you know not to look at the balance first when you have a newly purchased gift card.
