AirPods Pro (2nd gen) noise control mode switching fails in macOS Shortcuts works on iPhone
Hello everyone!
I’m experiencing a problem with Shortcuts on my MacBook Pro (M1).
I’m running the latest macOS (15.3.1 (24D70)) and using 2nd generation AirPods Pro.
When I create or run a Shortcut that changes the Noise Control mode (e.g., from Noise Cancellation to Off to Adaptive), it doesn’t work at all on my Mac.
However, the exact same Shortcut works perfectly on my iPhone (iOS 18.3.1).
Here’s what I’ve tried so far, with no success:
• Recreating the Shortcut from scratch on macOS.
• Unpairing and re-pairing my AirPods Pro with the Mac.
• Verifying that the AirPods are set as my default audio output.
• Ensuring all devices (MacBook Pro and iPhone) are signed into the same Apple ID and fully updated.
There’s no error message; the Shortcut simply doesn’t change the Noise Control mode on the Mac. Meanwhile, on my iPhone, the Shortcut toggles the modes flawlessly.
Questions:
1. Does anyone know if this functionality is officially supported on macOS, or if there is a known limitation?
2. Are there any additional settings or permissions I might have overlooked in macOS Shortcuts?
3. Has anyone found a workaround or a different method to automate switching Noise Control modes on AirPods Pro 2 while using a Mac?
I appreciate any guidance or insights ✨
Thank you in advance for your help!
