How to delete unwanted messages?

I'm using a Mac M1 Mini, and I get messages as well as emails, many of the messages unwanted, from scammers after money. Currently the scam BS involves supposed unpaid tolls on roads in unnamed states at unnamed times. How do I get rid of these messages and stop receiving more of them? It isn't clear how to delete messages from my "messages" file.

I am not sure if i get your problem but in case of:

SMS: you can block the scam numbers and you will not receive neither messages nor scam calls from them. Just press the "i" icon near the number, scroll down and block it.

email: you can create a spam filter that directly deletes emails from certain addresses. I did this with gmail and it works well.

In addition this guide I hope could help: Delete messages and attachments in Messages on iPhone - Apple Support (IL)

OK, I thought that was clear, but I guess not. I clicked on one of the messages (and I'm not on a phone; I'm on a Mac computer), then on the"I" in the upper right. But what now? How do I get rid of any/all of these "New Messages"? There is no way to block anything that I can see. "Scroll down and block it"? How?
