Why my Apple Pay refund mail showing a different card number?

So I paid for something using Apple Pay and now I’m getting the refund their saying a different card number on the email to what I actually paid with


is this normal?

When you add a card to an electronic wallet (Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, Samsung Wallet etc.) your bank creates a new number for your card called a DPAN (Digital Primary Account Number). This allows the bank to know how you complete the transaction, Apple Pay, or swipe or chip.


So yes, it’s normal. Your physical card details are not stored on your iPhone. You can see the last 4 digits of the DPAN in your Wallet app on your iPhone.
