Why do programs installed on macOS Sequoia require reinstallation after every reboot/shutdown?

As of today, I am no longer able to install any apps on my Mac mini M1 (which has nearly 200Gb of available space) without being prompted to reinstall them on every reboot/shutdown.

That’s never happened to me before. Even the programs I installed yesterday are working fine.

The programs I am trying to install were previously installed on the Mac (but later removed for whatever reason).

I am not getting any errors either. Everything else is working perfectly without issues or incident.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

"Everything" is not helpful. Pick one. FWIW, it sounds like you are trying run apps from a DMG.

I can't tell you what the problem might be. To install Brave for example, you just download the .dmg, double-click on it so it mounts, then either drag and drop it on the alias in the opened window or, drag n drop its icon into the Applications folder. Then eject the.dmg and delete it.

No apps once installed need reinstalled.

That's how it was until this morning.

Now, I can't install anything without being prompted to reinstall it following a reboot or shutdown.

Which apps specifically?

Everything!

If I install any app, the installation will go through fine with no errors or issues. I can even run it afterward with no issues.

But after I reboot, and try to run any newly installed app (by clicking on the app icon) it will (instead of opening the app) take me through the install process again.

I basically can’t install any new app on the machine (regardless of what it is) without being prompted to reinstall it after a reboot or shutdown.

I tried installing about 5 apps today (including Brave Browser and Maxthon).

After I install them and reboot the machine, I am asked to go through the install cycle again.

Many of these programs have previously been installed and were working without any issues.

I just opted to remove them a few weeks ago (as I wasn’t using them as much).

I haven’t had any installations issue with anything before this (not even last night) when I installed Microsoft Teams.

Drag them to the Applications folder manually and open them from there.

Holy cow!

This fixed the problem. Now all my new installs are working fine.
