Will updating to iOS 18.3.1 affect my Photos album organization?

IOS 18.3.1 for iPhone, does this mess up your photos that you have already organized into albums? I read the info about the update and it gives me pause now because I’ve worked hard to get my pics organized and no backup on pc. Thank you!

Well, before an update, it's good to have a backup. At least turn on Settings>AppleID>iClould>iCloud Backup, but this has limitations.

The album organization should be absolutely fine-- I have hundreds of albums in folders inside of other folders, and everything has been fine in upgrades-- no hiccups at all.

I use iCloud to synchronize my Photos Library with iCloud.com and my other devices, and I know this works flawlessly. However, I know that people sometimes transfer pictures to and from their phones using other methods, and I'm not so sure about how secure those pictures are.

I think that, if I were doing this, I would pay Apple $3 for some iCloud storage and connect my phone to iCloud. I'd wait for the pictures to sync, and then I'd go to iCloud.com to make sure that the pictures and albums there were exactly what was on my phone. I'd do the upgrade, and then I might cancel the iCloud Storage if I didn't want to pay $3 next month.
