Rubber around screen coming off/ melting soft

protecting rubber around the screen of my mac book pro is coming off. It has become so soft that every time I open my macbook I end up damaging it. It feels like its melting. I have always taken very good care of my macbook but this is so disappointing and disheartening to see. This rubber leaves line marks on the keyboard part also. What can I do to repair?

Will Apple store in Germany/Dusseldorf take care of it?

this is where I bought it.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

I've seen this occur with some Apple laptops in my organization over the years. My guess is that something on a person's hand is reacting with the rubber causing it to soften & even dissolve since those sections usually correspond to where people are opening & closing the lid. It can also be caused by some cleaners people may use for cleaning the laptop or the screen.
