Running two different macOS versions should not break or prevent Screen Sharing and File Sharing from working.

(I have no problem Screen and File Sharing between a Mac running Catalina and a Mac running Sequoia)

What is confusing, is that System Preferences abruptly changes into System Settings in macOS Ventura.

Please review and work thru the Sharing Settings for macOS Ventura.

Turn Mac screen sharing on or off - Apple Support

Set up file sharing on Mac - Apple Support
