Work around to get AI to work with external boot volume

While trying to get this new Mac mini configured as I would like using my external boot volume (1tb SSD) I see that there is sort of fine print that suggests Apple AI is not available with a external boot volume. Is there a work around for this? Although annoying its not the end of the world if I have to boot from internal SSD to use it.
