How to rearrange app icons on iPhone 14 Plus Home Screen?

I’m trying to get all my app icons on my iPhone 14 Plus in alphabetical order on the home screen. This requires moving some icons to previous pages. It’s easy to move them forward to the next page, but I can’t seem to get them to move to the page before the one that they’re on. Is this possible?

Yes, as long as there is still space on the previous page. I haven't noticed any difference in difficulty in moving them either direction.

You may want to reply with more details about what goes wrong and when (e.g., when you slide to the left the previous page won't appear, or it does appear and something else happens, etc).
